Mom's Superbowl Proclamation- she's Psychic, I think

Last Year's Prediction

Well, she did it again.   Here are the last 4 Superbowl proclamations by one Mom of Mine.

  • Super Bowl XLII-- It was the Giants vs. the Patriots. My mom called me and said, "I've decided to go for the Giants because they are huge, huge beings who will step on the tiny little patriots. Patriots have small weapons, like tiny muskets and those won't even touch the Giants. So I'm going with the Giants." Score: Giants 17, Patriots 14. Well done, Mom.
  • Super Bowl XLIII-- It was the Steelers vs. the Cardinals. She called me with her annual proclamation and said, "Ok, so I'm thinking it will be the Cardinals because they can peck out the eyes of the slow-moving guys who work on assembly lines. And the birds can just fly out of the way of the men." Score: Steelers 27, Cardinals 23. Well, you can't win them all.
  • Super Bowl XLIV-- The Colts vs. the Saints. "So, I think it's going to be the Saints because they have wings and they have God on their side. Plus, colts aren't even full-sized horses yet, they're like, teenagers. I mean, four legs do not beat a pair of wings."   She also made this point: "New Orleans is a city that needs a win..."  Score: Saints 21, Colts 17. Stella had her groove back.
  • Super Bowl XLV- The Green Bay Packers vs. The Pittsburgh Steelers.  Evenly matched teams. I called mom.   She said, "To be honest, this was a hard one.  Packers and Steelers are both large, sweaty men who wear too-small t-shirts.  They are pretty much the same, except for one thing.  I'm giving the edge to the Packers because they are used to handling soft things... like cheese and meat, so they will deal with the players, the flesh, better.  Steelers just deal with hard things, like steel."     Score: Packers 31, Steelers 25.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Mom called it again.  Official proclamation record: 3-1.

***UPDATE: 2/10/11.  Trying to maintain her rep after reading this post, she sent me this email: "I revised my Cardinals proclamation.  I’d forgotten that Cardinals wear long robes and crosses.  They tripped over the robes, of course.  Silly me."

Worlds collide and brothers grow up

When I was at home, I got to see something amazing.

My brother David played baseball against my high school's team. This is Dave batting at the Western Branch field! He was awesome!

He played first base and then he pitched for awhile.

He's so tall!! The tallest on his team. And he's a 6'2" sophomore. He's not even finished growing. This brother is going to get to play baseball at any college he wants!!

As Phebe and I were walking home from the baseball field (which is very near my mom's house), she needed to stretch her legs so I let her run around the high school football practice field. There was a JV football game being played in the stadium. It was a perfect October Saturday morning. :)

Summer Randoms

So, there were a lot of random pictures from this summer... here's a little taste.

My new tat:

A proactiv vending machine in a mall.

Best cashier ever.

Happy times on the camping/tubing trip.

Lou and I can make fires.

And be mermaids.

All of us, in some way or another, are trying to hide our bikini-ed bodies from the camera. Watch. And Kristin's face is priceless.

The World's Longest Barbie California Girl Uno Game.

Because someone didn't have ANY blues.
Johnny's and my head shot. We are going to be famous models one day. You'll see.

Girls and sports.

My favorite beer vendor at Nats park.

The guy I got into a fight with and chest bumped him in anger because he smacked Kate's ass when she walked past him. I know. It was gross.

William really did love this picture. He's making FakeMadFace.

Sometimes I let strangers play guitar on my leg.

Ummmm.....

Friends :)

A small family of sorts enjoying the fourth of July.

Kate gave me this necklace for my birthday. I like it. I'm a teacher and I hope to...
What a great summer...

Ohhhh Birthday...

I haven't done a 9-02-10 post.

It was an amazing day, so much love.

The birthday actually started on 9-01-10, when Dad took me, dave, rhonda and chris to see the Red Sox play the Orioles. It was a GREAT game and the Red Sox won so it was wonderful for all of us to travel to see it. Plus, I got to spend some amazing time with my family. Go Sox!

Here's Dad and David with Papelbon, the closing pitcher.

Despite getting home from the game at midnight and having a crazy dog who didn't want to settle and needed a walk at 12:45am, I woke up in a great mood on my birthday. On the way to work, I got a voice mail from Joy and she sang me the 90210 theme song along with my happy birthday wishes.

The great mood only intensified when I got to my desk at work and found this:

I have such an awesome co-worker in Valeria. : )

My day at work was lovely. Lots of birthday wishes. A DELICIOUS cake baked by Valeria. I felt incredibly loved. My co-workers and I did our Fantasy Football draft after school and it. was. so. much. fun. I couldn't stop making ridiculous comments and I completely enjoyed the company of my fun-loving coworkers. :)

When I got home, I spent some time with my pup and then went to Clare and Don's to meet my northern va friends. My friend Jaime really loved the 90210 birthday, so she made a card with pictures of the cast and had every one of our friends sign it "From the Whole Gang"

And then there was this gem... Clare and Don's and had "entertainment". I started recording this guy singing Happy Birthday to me just after he sang/spelled my name "K-A-T-I-E or Y"...
I know. YIKES. But look how happy my friends are.

This blurry picture is exceptionally accurate for the night. I think that's how I saw it all. Gotta love birthdays. :)

And of course, the ladies. Note Kristin pulling my hair (which she did right before every picture) and Kate's sorority pose. And my complete contentedness hearing from and having so many wonderful friends around my on my day.

It's so fun to watch!!

I am sad that Russia just lost to Canada. I would have liked to see some USA/Russia/Canada in the finals...

Oh well.
